  1. The PSP supports mp3 music files, as well as WMA, AAC and thier own ATRAC3 format.

The video is a different story. That uses the H.264 format which is commonly reffered to as MP4. Can't tell you where you can get these for free, but you can find plenty of PSP Video conversion software that will help you convert anything into a PSP format.

Firmware is basically a term for software that runs on an embedded system...it's like the operating system for the PSP. Companies update firmware to fix problems, prevent people from hacking the hardware, add features and formats. I haven't kept track of the firmwares since 2.0 came out in 05. If you google around for PSP firmware, you should find plenty of sites that'll discuss it in detail.

  2. all right check this out.

you can download videos for your psp off of youtube from

    www.vixy.com.

just be sure to use the correct format.

ps. firmware enables you to play vintage games (super nintendo, psx) on your psp but theres a super high risk of virusing and bricking (locking and never turning on) your psp

  3. MP3 is Audio and MP4 is Video. Try http://www.pspube.com
