I'm African American an i need a good cleanser to get rid of acne and blackheads. Proactive is not helping!!?

Often fewer products are better.  People often make their acne worse by using too many products.  There is no quick fix for acne.  Your doctor may recommend some prescription medication.  Keep your face very clean.  Drink plenty of water.  Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep.  Try to reduce the stress in your life.  Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.   Here are a few informative links with additional home treatment ideas.

i know exactly how u feel i ordered proactive and it did nothing for me. now i use CeraVe hydrating cleanser and CeraVe moisturizing lotion. u can get it from RiteAid CVS or a local drugstore

Hello,  As a fellow Afro American, I understand your dilemma.  We use grease/oils in our hair and do not wash our hair daily.  This sometimes means that the grease/oils from our hair transfers to our pillows and thus our face also touches the grease/oil as well.  So make sure to cover your hair at night, wash your face before bed, apply an astringent or a dermatologist recommended product to your face (Seeing a dermatologist may be the best thing for you as they can prescribe you pills, lotions or medications specifically based on your own skin instead of trying a general type product like proactive.  Most insurance plans pay for dermatologists so call your health insurance provider and find out how you can get in to see a dermatologist as soon as possible).  I hope this helps!
