Question:

I'm American, how can I move to the UK?

have asked this question, but didn't get any helpful answers, so I'm asking again. I'm 16 and want to move to the UK soon and live and work there. First I want to go to a good university here though, and a good degree (I want to practice law, I think you call lawyers barristers or something like that?) So what would be my best course of action to take to move there and gain citizenship and have a high paying job like I would here in the States? I want to marry a British woman someday (NOT TO GAIN CITIZENSHIP, BUT BECAUSE THEY'RE REALLY ATTRACTIVE) but would that also get me citizenship? Please help, I want to be an asset to the wonderful country of the UK, who we are just a spin off of. Thanks

  2. A*se l*****g won't get you anywhere.

Hello Jack, or Imaginator should I say. Both of your questions have been answered by the same person, who has only been a member for a day and has a best answer, which was not an answer but an insult to everyone who had answered your question with an insult.

Why ask questions if your going to answer them your self?

  3. Gaining citizenship is a long process.  Unfortunately, you are not granted citizenship simply for marrying someone British.  If you did have a British spouse you would have to apply for a spouse visa to enter the country.  There's more information on that process here: http://www.workpermit.com/uk/marriage.ht...

Take a look at the last point on that page: After a total period of three years in the UK if you meet the residence requirements you may then apply for UK citizenship.   In order to apply you do need to fill out a lengthy form, pay a hefty fee and pass a life in the UK test.  Citizenship is not an easy thing to get.

However, if you're just looking to live in the UK for awhile and enjoy a romantic life here, you'd probably be better off, studying for a degree here, or seeking employment.  Please note though, that individuals cannot apply for work permits, you must first get a company to hire you and apply for you.  This is extremely difficult to do from outside the UK as many places won't even consider applicants who cannot physically attend an interview.

As an American who lives here myself, I can say its a lovely place to be, but its definitely not easy to become a citizen.

  4. Think again pal.....I'm a uk Citizen who has lived in the States for many years and Australia before that. Unlike America, British Barristers are a bunch of bewigged, snooty, status crazy phonies who are only interested in their own archaic egos. ( One of them just shotgunned a posh street in Chelsea)  British judges rule the courts like arrogant, dictatorial bullies and unlike the American justice system the lawyers and barristers here have no recourse to the latter. Over the centuries, many innocent people, other than the royals and rich, have been convicted and incarcerated in the uk because of this and the absense of moral and ethical accountability of the judicial morons.! And as for this being a wonderful Country to live in, the airports are crammed with people wanting to GET THE h**l OUT.!  Thanks to the EU and our useless political imbeciles, Our small Island been invaded and overun by disease carrying foreign hoardes from Countries that have nothing to contribute but crime and lowering our living standards. Our cost of living is the highest in the World and our economy is heading for disaster.!  The only police protection is aimed at the royals, rich and powerful.! the rest of us have to endure daily violence by knife and gun wielding drugged up hooded yobs, etc. And as far as the gold digging, vampirically dominating women here are concerned,I'll take American Gals anytime.!

  5. lol, I can see why you'd want to leave USA to join this wonderful country :o)

Well, the best way might be to stay in the UK on some sort of Study/Student Visa, and then do the degree. Once you have the degree, that will increase your chance of getting citizenship. Citizenship for the UK is now done on a points system similar to Australia, where by the more skills & qualifications you have, along with family ties etc, the more chance you have of getting 'in'

  6. Hi Jack. I would not bother the UK has gone to the dogs its not Great Britain  any more its rip of Britain. cant Wait to sell up and get out.

  7. buy a plane ticket and fly across the pond

  8. You need to speak to a few people who are emigrating from the UK . This country in dead in the water. There is no control of immigration, even those who come here illegally are not forced to go back home. Consequence, a completely overburdened welfare state, consequence, those in legitimate employment are  heavily taxed on their salary. The additional tax, National Insurance continues to escalate. The tax on everyday items such as fuel are probably the highest in the world. You are taxed when you both buy and sell a house and are even taxed if you have the good fortune to be left a house  by a relative who has passed away. The girls here ? The highest rate of teenage pregnancy in all Europe, young people in general are the most drunken yobs in Europe. Violent crime amongst young people, I cannot say that is the highest in Europe, but it probably is.

Conclusion, this country is now a rubbish bin and it is overflowing

AND I have not even mentioned the totally inept Government who are running this Circus.

Why not try Canada, that seems like quite a nice place.

  9. Don't forget your Polish phrase book...

  10. dude....i'm right here with you. uk or australia hot foreign, but no that foreign, chics

    YES

  11. it would probably be better to go to school there, where you can learn their laws and justice system, cause I doubt its the same as ours, and you might meet the chics you are looking for in school too...
