  1. So unsure of what you are exactly asking.  Your vault and sprint work will not make you slower at cross country.  In fact the work that you do there will actually help in that you will have a better kick at the end of your races.  If you have a really good coach, the mechanics that they teach can carry over to your distance work.

Now your cross country can/will hurt your vault and sprinting.  Cross country trains your slow twitch muscles (Type I).  The more you train aerobically i.e. distance running, the more your fast twitch (Type II) will convert to Type I.  Research shows that we do not convert Type I to Type II or definitely not as easily as going to slow twitch.

Just realize that you will have 2 different training styles which may not have the results that you want.  Ultimately, you know what you want to do.  It can be done.  Look at the decathlete.  They must do a lot of sprint/jumping/explosive type movement, but also the mile run.

    Good luck!

  2. what's the problem?  All of that sounds fine.  I played soccer, did track, rock climbed, biked, and swam all at once... I don't get the problem
