Question:

I'm Doing a Rainforest Theme For My Daycare, What Animals Live in Rainforests?

I have the entire fisher-price rainforest collection (ie swing, bouny seat, exersaucer jumparoo, activity center, ect) and they all have pictures of elephants, zebra's and giraffes on them, although they call this the rainforest collection. So do these 3 animals really live in rainforests??? What other animals live in rainforests besides parrots and tree frogs? What kind of plants besides "birds of paradise" live in rainforests?? Any information about decorating a large room for a rainforest theme would be greatly appriciated!! Thanks a bunch!!

  1. I wouldn't think of elephants, zebras, and giraffes being "rainforest" animals.  I think they are more "savanna" animals....but I guess they could be technically.

Rainforest animals include:  Monkeys of all kinds, sloths, jaguars, toucans, gorillas, bats, leopards, snakes of all kinds, and many different kinds of reptiles/lizards.

Plants include:  Everything.  Just about every type of plant in the world can be found in the rainforest.  I suggest ferns, palms, and bamboo plants.

  3. There are numerous rainforests on earth. There is one in South America called the Amazon rainforest. One in central Africa. One in Southeast Asia (perhaps Asian elephants still roam there). One in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. I believe one in Australia...and so on.

In the amazon rainforest specifically you have jaguars, caimen, piranha, electric eels, sloths, harpy eagles, army ants, and so on.

No, giraffes and zebra don't go into the rainforest of central Africa, do they? Around Congo is there. They are more common on the plains of the Serengeti. A savanna more so than the rainforest.
