I would just like to know what Lebanon is like? Is it built up like Israel and Dubai? Modern? Safe? Largest City? Just interesting facts please. I'll be visiting the middle east for development projects. Should I make lebanon a stop? Also, would an American Jew be frowned upon in lebanon, or overlooked?

Lebanon is the gateway to the middle east.  from what I know they are the most liberal ME country apart from Israel.  Of course not all of Leb.

I wouldn't go advertising the fact that you are American if I were you. Outside your own borders you people aren't very well liked. Just thought you should know before you went on a holiday to The Middle East.

I'd advise you to tell people that you are Canadian, but I wouldn't want to hurt Canada's good name and reputation.

anyways:

whether ur jewish or not doesnt matter, contrary to popular belief middle eastern people do not hate jews nor do we look down upon them. Jews are people of the book.

anyways, racism and prejudice feelings SUCK..biiig tiimmeeeeee.

I am Palestinian and i can assure u, we dont hate Jewish people, its wrong to blame every Jew for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, u cant judge a person based on religious beliefs or ethnicity, thats wrong.

about lebanon, if u have the opportunity to go then sieze the opportunity for u are truly blessed, i would do anything to be able to go there.

i would describe Lebanon as an east meets west type country, u see the best of both worlds, the modernization of the west and the culture of the east. Largest city is probably beirut

intersting fact - i heard u can ski in the mountains and swim on the beach all in the same day

and yes it is safe at the moment

Well for a start when you apply for a visa to Lebanon you are asked if you have ever been to Israel so if you have

or you have an Israeli visa in your passport , you won't be allowed entry.

Lebanon is a blend of architecture , new & old ,western & mediterranean ....a blend of cultures , european & middle eastern ....yet it is uniquely Lebanon with its' cuisine , it's historical sites , friendliness &  hospitality!

Well worth the effort to go there ...

American Jew + Lebanon +  Hisbullah + Palestinians = not a good idea. Read a newspaper.

While it is true that not all Arabs or Muslims hate Jews, it's also true that the only safe place for Jews in the Middle East is Israel.
