  1. It's a loooonng process at times. I just got mine today. First, they take impressions if they haven't already, then, they take some X Rays. After that, they take out your old spacers, and fill them with metal ones. They have to try them on first, then they glue them on. Then, after that, they start with your brackets. Do NOT at all costs stick your tongue on the glue it tastes really bad!! Then, after that, they take the wires and stick em through the brackets, and then put your band in...after that, they just tell you what to do. You can chew gum,eat popcorn,Caramel,Tootsie Rolls,Apples and Carrots (unless they are cut up or in small pieces) And more. You need to refrain from eating Pizza as a whole, like tearing it with your teeth and stuff. And I can't really tell you if you will get them off by the end of the year. Your Orthodontist should have told you.

  2. They kind of make a mold of your teeth and they slip that mold over your teeth. The mold has the metal brackets on it and the orothodonist will glue them to your teeth. There are lots of stuff you cant eat. Anything chewy, gum (unless its sugar-free), caramel. It depends on how much shifting your teeth have to do to know how soon you get them off. They are worth it tho

  3. I'm sorry to hear that well..they will put them on by springing your mouth open and individually putting each bracket on each tooth it takes some time NO pain at all..now foods you can eat are tough for the first few days applesauce is good as well as soup your teeth depending on how bad they are now will be veryy sore but just take aspirin and it'll help MAJORLY..And the length of your braces just depends on how bad your teeth are i had mine on for one year whereas my girlfriend had hers for 3 years..if your like me then you'll be good for next school year i would think or at least close to it..HOPE i could help GOOD LUCK

  4. Its a long process. You have to have the imprints done, spacers, pictures, x-rays, and THEN you finally get your braces. They'll take out your spacers first and then they'll glue the molar bands on. The stuff they use to glue it on taste terrible. Try not to get your tongue in it. They'll glue your brackets on one by one very carefully. Don't move your lips or tongue during this part. If your do, the brackets will move and looked crooked in the end. Then they'll put the wire in and put the colors on. It takes about an hour and half to two hours.

  5. The orthodontist will use a rubber cement to but the brackets and bands on your teeth. You should expect some pain for the first week but it will go away in time.  Your ortho will probably give u a list of things you can’t eat and how to take care of your braces. You’re not supposed to chew gum, ice, or hard candy and you’re not supposed to eat things like corn on the cob or ribs.  Depending on how much work needs to be done, it will take 2 to 2 ½ years.  I know mine took 3 years but that’s because I didn’t wear my rubber bands like I was supposed to and I just got mine off yesterday.

  6. First off welcome to the club!  Basically, they glue the brackets on your teeth after they have been cleaned very thoroughly. Then they attach the wire to the back brackets and attach it to each tooth with rubber bands(they should let you pick the color).  It feels weird but doesn't immediately hurt. I would advise taking something like Ibuprofen before you go though.

The next week or so you will be sore. Eat soft stuff: stuffing, mashed potatoes, pudding, jello, etc. Ice cream is great because it is cold. Honestly, you can eat pretty much whatever you feel up to. Just don't eat really hard stuff it can bend and break things.

I don't know if you'll have them off before school is out. You'll have to take that up with your Dr.  Most Dr's will make things go quicker but more painfullky if you ask. Just talk with 'em and you'll both get things done how you want.

    Good Luck!
