Question:

I'm Going on a Bahamas Cruise?

My husband and I are going on a cruise in late October 2008 to Freeport and Nassau. We are planning on snorkeling and hanging out on the beach. We are going to go to the Straw Market and possibly Atlantis(I'm not sure if this will be worth our time). But I don't know what there is to do in Freeport, from 7 AM to 6 PM. I would like to do things and eat places that are original and mainly family ran. Places like that always seem to be better. But I don't want to do anything that is going to be outragously expensive. Please help with Nassau and Freeport. Also how is Atlantis?

  1. Nassau is Expensive. There is a a lot to do and see in Downtown only. Straw Market, local restaurants, Fort Fincastle, Museums. You can also take a ride in a Jitney ( spelling?), the public bus to drive around. Paradise Island and Atlantis are very pretty. If you plan to eat at Atlantis it is expensive. For local cuisine I would suggest the Fish Fry or Potters Cay.  Get a map of downtown and it will help you get around.  I have not been to Freeport. I've heard is beautiful. Good luck.

  2. Here is a link to free beaches in Nassau. Click on the links for more information.

To get a day pass to Atlantis it's $105 a person.

I would do a snorkel boat excursion in Freeport or a horseback ride on the beach. Check your cruise line excursion list for more ideas. It's a good idea to book with your crise line because if you are delayed for any reason the ship will wait for you. If you go on your own and don't watch the time and you are late, you are out of luck .

A good place to shop in Freeport is the International Market. Lots of store, restaurants etc.

Another good website is this one.

Have a wonderful time on your cruise. Enjoy)
