  1. off spray

    sunscreen 30/40

    sunglasses

    white comfortable clothing(no long sleves)

    sandals and comfortable tennis shoes

    drink lots of water

dry skin body lotion/aloe vera is great for sun burns

NO SUN TAN LOTION (it will burn your skin for weeks)sunblock its a must!

we celebrate 4th of July as if we were in USA, very traditional as well, we go to the beach, grill, drink up and fireworks. old san juan is beautiful at daytime and breath taking at night with all the night life movements, clubs, relaxed pubs, exotic art and historical water fountains, old colonial houses, forts and brick streets. deep blue sea water and pink soft sandy beaches, great coffee shops and artesan art. and much more. u will love it.

  7. Yeah, just got back. SUNSCREEN! Old San Juan is beautiful! The Isla Verde and Condado beaches, in San Juan is where I mostly stayed. Really nice, not too overcrowded. I recommend a rental car. Not everything is within walking distance especially in the heat. The forts are worth a visit, but it gets so hot, bring water and more sunscreen. I went to the El Yunque rainforest, beautiful, but not worth the hour long drive.

Have fun and use protection! ;)

  9. Between July 1-7 the "Festival de Flores" (festival of flowers) is taking place in San Juan.  Thats is lots of fun!

Some things to take since you are heading there in the middle of the summer are sunscreen, summer clothes, a spanish/ english dictionary and a adventuresome attitude to try new things!! Oh, and don't forget a swimsuit.  The beaches there are amazing!

Something fun to look out for are the coqui.  They are small tree frogs native to Puerto Rico and if you listen at night you can hear them.

         Well, have fun!!!!!

  10. ENJOY YOUR TRIP ....

  11. sun screen and flip flops

  12. yeah, I agree. definitely bring sunscreen and summer clothes.

  14. mk ill tell u exatly wat u need i used to live there...sunscreen like the others said too... get water shoes cuz theres seaurchins in the water and if u step on them then the quils go in ur feet.  if u go in the water buy some viniger b4 just in case u get stung by a jelly fish.... go to el morro...its a fort from a famous person....i forgot.  and definatly go to el yunque...its a rain forest.. with water falls and parrots and omg its awesome.

  15. Sun screen + lots of bug repellent

  16. In San Juan, you can see besides the forts, the oldest Cathedrals in the Caribbean, Juan Ponce De Leon home, Felisa Rincon home (she was first femal mayor of San Juan).  You do not have to worry about getting around because there are 3 different trolleys. One is the open air double trolley that goes right up to the bridge entrance of El Morro and goes back down to the piers. The second is to El Morro but goes then from there to the center of Old San Juan, and the third goes straight to the Center of Old San Juan which is the City Hall/Alcaldia trolley. Don't worry, the trolley rides are FREE.  There are a short 2 blocks up from the first trolley stop ( or Trolley start) stores and shops all the way up to the center of old San Juan.  If you need personal items then in the center of old San Juan is the Puerto Rico drugstore which is over 100 years old and has a variety of things ranging from medical prescriptions to souveniers. By it is Walgreens but no prescriptions filled here. There are a variety of restaurants ranging from typical to American. My favorite is Manolin, Barra China and El Meson. The Meson is sandwiches like quiznos, but typical of here, and served with nartural fries and of course the sandwiches are toasted just right.  Wear comfortable clothes, a cap if you have one, I suggest sneakers that are for walking. Do not carry a purse and a shopping bag, it would be too much to lug around. I suggest a bag that you can have on your shoulder or back that will hold what you want to buy and your wallet and that can hold your camera and celphone.  You will have to use a sunblocker. And I suggest that if you do want to walk around. Then to make it more easier, take any trolley of your preference up then from up by the fort you can walk down, if you wish to walk a bit. But don't walk all the way up then back down because it will be hot out and you will get tired. Don't worry about bathrooms because the Morro have beautiful bathrooms well equipted, so does the Convent Hotel, the City Hall, Marshalls second floor, and the restaurants. Also the Sharaton has nice bathrooms.

As for the Fourth of July, the mayor of San Juan does have celebrations. You can call their number at 1-787-756-7300 and ask for the activites for July. But call a few weeks ahead of time.

    Enjoy your visit.

Oh, if you want to buy anything to eat and make yourself, then in the center of Old San Juan is Super Max SuperMarket. They have fresh fruits, veggies, and all the groceries you may need.  If you have too many groceries for free they will give  you are ride to the bus terminal. By the way if your hotel or place of stay is out of old San Juan such as Condado, you can take B-21 bus from there to  San Juan and back. Each way, the ride is 75 cents per person per trip.

  17. Well, don't expect to see celebrations or anything. 4th of july is a holiday but not quite celebrated, its not a big deal here.

Bring sunscreen and flipflops! Bring shorts, tanktops, it's very hot in PR.
