  1. a)  you fall in love with your hands...B)   while doing A you don't look at the board.    c)   you are too lazy to learn the game.......

  2. Think more about what your opponent has than what is in your hand calculate the possibilities of losing before putting money in the pot  look for cards that can beat your hand

  3. Stop gambling.  Put your wits to good use elsewhere.  Do some good and stop wasting your life.

  4. its very hard to put someone on a gap connector like 79 with 6810 on the board  unless maybe they were in the big blind with a speculative type hand

but u can predict straights based on preflop and post flop play

any time u see 89  910  or 10J on the board, the potential for a straight is huge

lets say u have 10J with 210J on the board and he calls your flop raise (always raise 2 pair here).  if the 9 comes off on the turn the straight potential is the highest.  at best u can try and be as cautious as possible.  consider slow playing your hand so in case he has the QK he doesnt murder u for all your chips.  always speculate is the best answer i can give u.  and if there is any risk that your beat, proceed cautiously as possible.

  5. pay attention to the flop - turn - river- what are the possible hands? You must be able to know what the odds and percentages are to become a winner. Go to FullTiltpoker.com

get free 1000 chips FAKE money and listen to the pro's.

There are all kinds of lessons and advice.

  6. One thing you may have done already but I used to do a lot and it got me in the habit of doing it even now is when I'm NOT in a hand, watch the board and be telling yourself what the top 10 hands are at that point.  For instance, if the board comes out:

    Ad  Ts  6h

ask yourself "what are the top ten hands at this particular point?"

(they are:  AA, TT, 66, AT, A6, T6, AK, AQ, AJ, A9)

Say the turn then comes Jh

They are now: KQ, AA, JJ, TT, 66, AJ, AT, A6, JT, J6.

If the river were to come out 9h, they would now be:

any heart flush, KQ, Q8, 87, AA, JJ, TT, 99, 66, AJ

The best hand at the river may have been a calling hand at the turn, and the best hand at the turn may have called you at the flop.  You may want to consider that as well:  While you are thinking about "what is the best hand at this point?" you may also want to consider "what hands would call me at this point?"  It's more important to consider what you're up against rather than what you have.  For instance, if you have pocket Ks against 1/2 opponents and the flop comes

    Kh  9s  3c

There's less reason to push opponents out than if you have the same hand and this situation:

    Kh  Th  4c

The only hands that will call you in the above scenario are Kx (which will pay you off big time), pocket 9s or pocket 3s.  Most other hands will fold (QJ, QT, JT might call, but they're a big underdog; same for any Ax in a really loose game... but you want Ax to catch an A in this situation).  In the second scenario, you have possible open-ended straight draws, possible flush draws... h**l, even a possible straight flush.  Dangerous to let your opponents have a free card here.

  7. This is called the "Texture" of the flop. I always try and look at the texture - to see what hands can be made with it. If you are have real problems, get something like PokerOffice - which has a neat little feature that tells you the best hand that can be made. Over time you will get used to being able to spot this and go from  there.

    Good Luck

  8. Slow down and pay attention to the board.  If there are three connected cards, or even three cards that could make a straight with 2 cards between them, be careful.  If you're making this mistake, it's because you're not thinking things through.

    EX:

X-X-X :board (X-X: straight hole cards)

    7-8-J (9-10)

    J-Q-K (9-10 or 10-A)

    10-K-A (J-Q)

    8-9-J (7-10 or 10-Q)

  9. Educate yourself.... practice and you will recognize this more.
