There is talk that There will be a new Vampire Diaries book, but I'm not sure yet.

My favorite LJ Smith books were Vampire Diaries, Night World, Secret Circle and Dark Visions.  Night of the Solstice was for a slightly younger crowd, but still good, and I just didn't really like the Forbidden Game series.

The only other YA supernatural books that I can think of are Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire series.  Excellent series, a little more grown up than Twilight or LJ Smith's books.

    Adult supernatural fiction recommendations:

Patricia Briggs - Mercedes Thompson series

Patricia Briggs - Anna and Charles series

    Carrie Vaughn - Kitty series

Kelley Armstrong - Women of the Otherworld series (she also has a YA series, but I don't know how that is)

Karen Chance - Cassandra Palmer series

Laurell K Hamilton - Anita Blake series (warning - lots of s*x after the first few novels)

  3. For supernatural, I would recommend some of the books of Dean Koontz, starting with Odd Thomas. There are four book in the series (Odd Thomas, Forever Odd, Brother Odd and Odd Hours). In these books, Odd has an unusual ability - he can see the lingering spirits of the recent dead and tries to help them so they can move on to the next world. He can also see evil spirits whenever bad things are about to happen, and he tries to prevent these events. The books contain a lot of humor and some very endearing characters.

You can also try some of his other books, like Watchers or Strangers, which, along with many other titles, contain elements of the supernatural.

And if you like mystery/thriller types of novels, try some of the first books in the Pendergast series (The Relic, Reliquary, The Cabinet of Curiosities and Still Life With Crows) written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. These also have some element of the supernatural to them.
