We have a meatloaf that is all ready to put in the oven that we got from the grocery store, but it doesnt say how long to put it in the oven and at what temp and what temp it should be when its done. (Its fresh meat, doesnt have directions, just ingredients)

It is a small one, to fit in the small meatloaf pan we have.

**Ive never made meatloaf before....

If you need more info just say so and I'll update the question.

Thanks!

  1. You might want to put something on top of it before you bake it:  BBQ sauce, Worchestershire sauce, marinade sauce, etc.   Then, I usually cover mine with aluminum foil, and just uncover the last 15 min. or so.  I bake mine at 375 for about an hour, maybe longer if it doesn't look done......That gives you time to make the mashed potatoes, which are traditionally served with meatloaf (and green beans)

  2. Based on the info you provided, I would bake it at 350 for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Internal temp should be 165-170

  3. Meatloaf takes an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.  If its still pink inside dont worry, the onions make it that color even if its done.

Oh yeah, and cooked at 350 in the oven on middle rack.

  4. i bake mine at 350 for 1 hr 15 min.

  5. Cook it for around 45 minutes, at 350 degrees.  Test the center with a meat or digital thermometer, and since it's ground beef, you'll want it at least medium well which is 155 degrees.  If its not quite there then check it at 5 minute intervals until it is.

  6. Here is an excellent homemade version for you to try next time. It's awesome and easy to make. I hope you will give it a try sometime.

    Moms Sweet & Sour Meatloaf

    Sauce:

    2 small cans tomato sauce

    1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

    1/2 onion chopped

    1 tablespoon dried parsley

    1/2 cup brown sugar

Mix all sauce ingredients together in bowl, set aside.

    Ingredients (Meatloaf):

    2 pounds ground beef

    1/2 chopped onion

    1 egg, beaten

1/2 cup or more if needed, quick oatmeal (not instant)

    1 teaspoon garlic salt

In another bowl add ground beef, 1/2 chopped onion, egg, oatmeal, garlic salt, pepper, and 1/3 of the sauce mixture. Mix together well.

Place in pan, making space between meat and pan around edges with fingers. Flatten top, spread more sauce over top and cook 1 hour, at 350F. Drain off grease half way (30 min) and add more sauce. Reserve some sauce for adding when served. The oatmeal disappears, is healthy and you can't taste it. It just holds it together better. Add more if you need it.

  7. OK - Did you buy Meatloaf Mix?  Just meat, and nothing else?  You'll need to add some seasonings, binders - I use garlic, onions, salt, pepper, egg, and usually either bread crumbs or cracker crumbs - then you've got to prep the pan.

I learned this from America's Test Kitchen - take a walled cookie sheet, and put a rack in it.  Then take a 3 or 4 ply thick piece of foil (about 2 or 3 inches smaller than the rack in the pan) placed in the center of the rack.  Poke lots of small holes into the foil, and spray the foil with cooking spray.

After you've got your meatloaf mixed up, put it onto the foil, and shape it to fill the foil.  Then bake it for about 1 hour @ 350'.  Remove the loaf, and glaze it with ketchup or BBQ sauce.  Place it back in the oven, under the broiler for about 5 min.  Remove it again, and glaze it once again.  Put it back in the oven for about 5 min, then take it out and let it cool for 20 min or so before cutting.

    Good luck!

  8. A small loaf will probably take an hour at 350.  It will just look done, dark brown and bubbling.

  9. it will take around 180-200 degrees for 1 hr and 10 minutes just keep an eye on it after the first hr is up your oven may be better then mine (wouldnt be hard haha )  i brought one the other day to try as i have always made my own and i must say it was beautiful i even had the left over's the next day. good luck and enjoy !!

  10. I've always made my own meatloaf...never bought one premade, but sounds like you should cook it at 350 degrees for about 1 hour....how about the weight of it? Meatloaf is very easy to make....1 lb ground beef, 1/2 lb ground pork, 1/2 lb ground veal (or buy the meatloaf mix near the ground meat); 1cup bread crumbs, flavored or not; your favorite spices, like garlic powder, onion flakes, parsley; 1 raw egg; 1-2 tablespoons ketchup; mix well together, pop in loaf pan and cook for 2 hours at 350....you can add a package of onion soup (the dehydrated stuff) or a package of vegetable soup (dehydrated) instead of your own spices....some people do oatmeal instead of bread crumbs, but I'm not a fan of that...Can also do a meatloaf out of ground turkey or chicken, with mexican flavorings, and spices and mix in a cup of shredded cheddar./.

  11. never bought one from the store before...but i would add gravy to it onced done and when served...or mix up....ketchup and brown sugar and coat this all over it while cooking....makes it very nice flavor.

Normally i cook at 375 for about30 to  45 minutes..i dont know how much meat you have.
