I'm so mad right now, can you please help me take the right course of actions. ok, I'm taking classes at a four year college online because I'm currently disabled. During this fall semester I have called an received approval to take 2 classes at a nearby college. The approval was for college credits for 2 classes to transfer into my parent College once completed. Now, almost 3 weeks into class out of no where I receive an email through my school account saying that the class credits will not be accepted because the same classes are offered at my parent college. Now, lets remember...I have just spent money on tuition, books, and fees at the other college. Its going to be ugly tomorrow but can somebody tell me some of my rights or course of action to take...Before I ................What legal course of action do I have?

  1. Not a legal expert, but hope all ends well.

  2. You have to have documentation that it was approved, otherwise fight it tooth and nail, but youre probably sol.

  3. Always get this kind of stuff in writing and keep it, whether emails or what

When conversation is oral, send letter or email confirming the conversation, details of credits, etc.

Respond by email to this email you received, businesslike, stating that you are certain there has been some miscommunication or misunderstanding somewhere.  Then briefly state sequence of events, you spoke with A, got approval to enroll online at college Cdue to your diability, you enrolled in College C, paying tuition, books and fees and have been working on these classes for 3 weeks.

  4. legally, you cant really do much. Though, you are disabled so you should really get some help with this. I hope you spoke to the management and not some worker cause they often dont care and give lousy advice. You really should do something about it. Thats really not fair. Im a single parent but my son is 5. I couldnt go to school last semester cause nobody would cover my daycare eventhough technically they should have. Jump to loops and hoops for this. Your not alone. Everyones got theres. Take some action. Good luck

  5. First of all relax.  No one will help you if you get excited over the issue.  Your university should have an ombudsman that you should be able to speak with.  Explain your situation, that you received prior approval through the correct channels and have spent both money and time that you will not be able to recoup.

It would be a good guess that someone in the registrars office that doesn't know or appreciate your circumstances took it upon themselves to reverse the prior approval.

Wish you the best with resolving this issue.

  6. Yes, definitely fight for this. Speak to the president or whom ever is the main boss. TAKE SOME ACTION. I had a problem with my school as well, I got a lawyer to help me. All he did is sent a letter and boom my problem was solved. I spoke with the president and he helped me solve the problem. Best of luck!!!

  7. 1. No college has to take your credits at another college.

    2. Most colleges are state institutions, so if you "sue" you have to sue the state.....how far do you think that will go?

    3. All colleges have appeals process for transfer credits, find out what the process is at your school, and follow it.  This is usually with the Registrar.

I have NEVER heard of credit being refused b/c the same classes are taught at the school where you are currently enrolled, it's usually if they are NOT the same.

So, don't get into a huff before you talk to someone in authority.  And the girls getting paid $8.00 an hour in admissions are not them.
