I'm Spanish, I don't understand this part in grammar! Could you help me!?

Question

These concepts don't exist in Spanish, so it's really hard to me to figure them out without making mistakes. Sometimes you use a gerund of a word that has already a noun as a noun too. Why? What are the difference of meaning they have? Could you explain it? I'll be so grateful, thanks!

1) Housing works and House works

2) Sport Club and sporting club.

3) Dressing room and dress room.

4) Clothes area and clothing area.

5) Studying area and study area

Some of those I don't think there really are differences. But I'll do my best to help you.

When I think housing works, I think building a house, repairing it, or just fixing it up. House works is more like chores.

I'm not too sure about sport club and sporting club.

With dressing room, it's more like a designated place to dress and undress; dress room I think would be just someplace you're dressing, not necessarily somewhere you're supposed to.

The fourth and fifth are pretty similar. With clothes area and studying area, I think the difference is designation; for example, "I need a studying area" and "My room is my study area". Study area and clothing area seem to me like the way you would describe a place as being.
