Question:

I'm Still feeling fat?

Ok, so I eat just about the ideal amount of calories a day. I'm moderately active, and according to internet calculators, I burn around 1800 calories a day. Usually I have around 1000 calories a day. And yes, I know it's still not enough, but I'm just trying to maintain, and somehow it seems 1000 manages to keep the fat sticking.

I never skip meals - never! In fact, quite the opposite. I eat many small meals a day, and they're always healthy. So why is my weight going up? It's pretty gradual, which is even worse, because then you don't even notice it as much. I feel really bloated at the end of each day, although to be honest I really don't eat /that/ much. I mean, according to my scale, I eat around 3 pounds of food a day. How is that possible?

  1. You should see a Doctor about this first of all and maybe see a nutritionist.

Sometimes it's not about how many calories you're eating, but the quality those calories have...Like I could eat 1000 calories by eating things from Mcdonalds...but the calories wouldn't be quality calories.

You should eat small meals during the day that have substance.  Don't forget fruits and veggies either!  There is no way that you eat 1000 a day, burn 1800 (and how are you doing that BTW, it takes about an hour to burn 1000 on an elliptical, so it sounds really unhealthy for you to be burning more than your body has a day), and you gain weight, it's just physically impossible unless you have some sort of disease or disorder (hypothyroid is what I think I've heard of, where you can gain weight regardless of your diet and exercise).

ALSO, remember why you're doing this and forget about the scale, number of calories and all that.

Concentrate on fruits, vegetables, food pyramid type stuff, and just measure your success by how you feel.

I hope this helped a little, I know how hard weight loss can be but you can do it, just remember to be healthy.

  2. Some people are jsut the way they are, bone structure, w/e

Look at me, Im skinny as h**l, no matte rhow much I eat, im skinny.

How much do you weight exacly, age, height? Id like to know, maybe your just exaggerating and making it up for ur brain.

  3. Are you about to start your period? Girls usually gain weight before they start. Or you are just growing! Don't worry Ames, i'm sure you are fiiiine. ;)

  4. I suggest seeing a professional who knows about this kind of stuff. Also, it IS normal to gain weight because you start to lose it as in when you jsut start a new diet. but seriously, thats good that you are taking care of your body but please make sure you're getting enough food!

  5. Well...sorry to get kinda personal...but is your period about to start?  In the week prior to my period, I always gain water weight and get incredibly bloated.  The trick in that case is to drink tons of water, but that still doesn't really work.  The good news is...water weight goes away very quickly...and as soon as your period starts...you'll lose it.  I also retain water after I've consumed salty foods.

Or...it could be something that has to do with your metabolism.  Have you been under-eating like this for a long time?  Sometimes if you don't eat enough, your metabolism gets into the habit of slowing down.  When that happens, if you ever eat a little more than normal, you gain weight because your metabolism isn't up to par.  However, since you eat a lot of little meals a day, I don't see why your metabolism would be messed up, because eating frequent small meals is supposed to quicken it.  So I'm thinking the first option is more your issue.

    If I were you...I would:

    1. Drink lots of water

    2. Keep exercising - maybe vary your routine a bit so your body doesn't get used to you doing the same thing (it will quit responding after a while)

    3. Eat all of the food groups, with an emphasis on protein (and have more calories...I lost 0lbs when i was implementing the starving myself for 2 days and then binging system, whereas I lost 30lbs eating a healthy 1800-2000 calorie diet over a period of 3 months because it was a realistic goal)

    4. Stop counting calories, and judge your weight by how you feel in your clothes.

  6. It could be lots of water weight, or you are steadily building muscle. :) You're doing fine. Perhaps be more wary of the itty bitty random things you absentmindedly snack on without noticing?

    Hope this helps. ^-^

  7. In a way, I'm almost about like you. Except I"m about 18 and 5'2 and 222 pounds. I'm trying to lose myself. I think the reason why I can't lose weight that fast is because I have extremely low metabolism plus I eat about 2000 calories or more each day. But I'm a male, so that might be a good thing. Hope this helps.

  8. try squat thrusts and leg crossovers and crunches then  you will get a six pack and that would be sweet! then you wont look fat thus making you better feeling

  9. you need exercise to. eating healthy isn't the only step to loosing weight.

you need the right amount of exercise.

  10. I think you are going about calculating the amount of food you need a day. If you can, I would recommend joining weight watchers (meetings or on line). Its pretty cheap and teaches you how to eat correctly and lose weight.

  11. I'm Skinny but I don't "Feel" Skinny.?

  12. muscle mass

  13. stop dieting. it'll get u fatter. just  stop eating fastfood/junkfood/freezerfood and eat cooked meals in portions that dont make you overly full. lbs will drop right off

  14. Maybe you're a little heavier because you got more muscle. That's not bad at all! And the bloating could be fluid retention. If that's the case drink more water to flush all the water that's being retained out. Or are you close to getting your period? My stomach's always bloated when mine's close.

  15. If you are an active person and you are eating that little amount of calories a day, you are in starvation mode and your body is doing quite the opposite of trying to lose weight. It's hanging on to every pound and every morsel of food it can because it doesn't know when it's next healthy meal will come again.

I think you need to see a nutritionist or a doctor to plan a healthier lifestyle. Besides, you don't want this to turn into something worse, trust me - I know.

  16. It really depends on what your eating, not always the cals matter, watch your salt, and eat FRESH veggies and fruits, NOT canned stuff.

sometimes, When you start diets, you will gain weight first, then loose it.

What worked for me was running, i ran 2 miles a day and within a week i had lost 15 pouncs and 1 pant size, its been a month, i am now a size 3, and was a 9.

Or if a nearby school has bleachers, try running up adn down them and do 20 rounds.

    That works great.

and 1000 is perfect, if your on a diet.

And if you burn 1800 you may just be gaining muscle and making you heavier, I would concentrate on your inches not your pounds.

Because it could be your b*****s, mine got bigger when i dieted, so you never know.

    Hope i helped.

  17. Are you drinking at least 64oz of water a day? It could be water weight, have you lost any inches? Just because you dont drop pounds does not mean you dont drop inches.  Remember muscle weighs more then fat.  Also you supposed to weigh yourself in the morning when you wake up.  Dont weigh yourself everday, do it once a week.

  18. Well, everyone's body acts differently. There's so many factors to it. The Slimquick Hoodia supplement works so well because it helps with all these factors. Try the drink powders, they're delicious :D

Some people are just bigger. It's how we are. I'm 5'5", 140, and a model at that weight.

It's not the numbers on the scale or in the food, it's how you look and fit in your clothes.
