I'm VEGAN, but today...?

...I was eating a slice of bread [i enjoy eating plain bread XD ]

and I knew it tasted funny, so I checked the label before I had a second slice and It wasnt the normal brand name bread, but the store's brand, and like most store brands, they did use a form of dairy...butter. I felt so bad afterwards.

Does this mean that my vegan diet starts over tomorrow? Do I have to start saying iv only been vegan for one day again starting tomorrow? Or, because it was an accident, It dosnt count agianst me...even though I wish I had checked the ingredience beforehand =[

oh, i feel bad still

  1. I would not lose sleep over it.   You'd be amazed how many animal bits they sneak into food that you'd never expect to have animal products in them.    The good intention is there, so as long as you avoid the bad brand from now on, no worries.    Consider it a learning experience. :-)

    Did you know McD's french frieds are not vegetarian?   For some odd reason their "natural flavors" is animal fat and other nastiness.   You'd never expect it since they brag it's "fresh potatoes cooked in 100% veg oil".  They were actually sued over this deception and lost!

    Cesar salad almost always is NOT -- traditionally it is made with anchovies in the dressing.

    Most brands of vegetable soup are not vegetarian even if the front of the label does not say chicken or beef.  If you read the fine print on the back, for some dumb reason they add chicken fat or beef stock to many things.

    Anything with Jello or gelatin are bad. Watch out since they sneak this into candy alot.

    (BTW good for you for going veg!  )

  2. Forgive yourself, learn from this, and move on.

    And no, you don't have to burn your vegan-club member card.  ;-)

  3. no, you didn't know so it's not like you did it on purpose.

    I have had meat slipped into my food by accident since I have been vegan and yes, i almost threw up when I took my first bite, but that doesn't make me start all over again.

    your fine.

  4. i am a vegetarian;

    and trying my hardest to be vegan.

    i have been veg since jan 4th.

    at first i ate ramon noodles a few times;

    soon i found out it had beef fat in it!

    so i stoped eating them imediatly.

    i felt supper bad, but i still say ive been a veg since jan 4th.

    i didnt do it intetinaly.

    i dont think you should start over;

    just be more cautious and read all labels.

    thats what i did.

    oh and being vegetarian or vegan isnt really about how long you have done it, all its really about is that you are doing somthing to change this cruel world, right ? :))))

  5. No. Making an unintentional mistake does not make you a 'bad' vegan. We all make mistakes. Just check the labelling next time.

  6. being vegan is a personal choice, a diet, it does not need to be counted or calculated or shown off for that matter. Say whatever you would like to about your lifestyle, its yours to discuss. but since I am supposed to answer your question...  In my opinion you wouldn't be lying if you said you have been a vegan for x amount of time even though you slipped up. heck take a day off, have a steak :) nobody needs to know.

  7. Nope.  Your still a vegan.  That was an accident and I am sure you will look next time :)  I will send you a get-well-soon card :)

  8. Dude! You really blew it, now you have to return your Veggie Card. :-)  Not really ((((CHILL))) it was a mistake.

  9. You are still a vegan, just a tiny little slip up that is NO BIG DEAL:)  Accidently eating something with animal products should in no way make any veg. person have to change how long they have been veg. for.

  10. It doesn't count if you ate it by mistake!

    My friends played a cruel, cruel joke on me in college & put worms in my coffee (they said I was drinking too much!) I don't think they were thinking about how gross it was for a vegetarian! Ugh!

  11. Don't stress, its not a big deal, it was complete accident so stop stressing and you'll feel so much better!

  12. you dont have to tell any1 how long youve been vegan..therefor that bit doesnt matter

  13. ur still a vegan dont worry about it whats done is done

  14. If you didn't do it knowingly, I would still say you're vegan :)

  15. You can say whatever you want to say, there are no rules about clarifying how many days you have been vegan.

  16. If it wasn't on purpose i still would count you as a vegan.

  17. Nope you suck you must be the worst vegan. I am a stage 3 vegan i dont eat anything with a shadow.

  18. You made a mistake--you're human after all--but let this be a lesson to you to always read the labels.
