Question:

I'm a 13 year old girl looking to start boxing?

My best guy friend goes to a gym and takes boxing classes, and I've been thinking that I might want to start.

If I really pick it up, are there even any competitions for teen girls?

Could a 13 year old girl even be taken seriously?

  1. Honestly I have no clue if there are any for teen girls, I've never heard of any.

And yeah I would think that either other girls will respect or frown upon you for taking boxing, In one part a lot of girls will admire you and respect you because you are In a sport that is mostly meant for men, but there will be always some chicks that will be threaten, scared or think that boxing is a brute sport fit for only men.

Do it if you feel like it, and don't punch your boxing buddies in the gym n the arm every 5 minutes, every girl seems to do that for some reason, the punches on the biceps adds up.

  2. yes

    google it

  3. I don't know if at 13 you would start fighting but start training now and in two years you could be a great competitor in  the ring. find a boxing gym near you and train hard. remember there is no replacement for hard work whether you are male or female or young or old

  4. I'm 14 and I box too, it completely depends on where you live.

Alot of gyms are adapting to women boxers and kickboxers but if your serious about act like it, or else you wont be welcome.

Truthfully, if you start when your 13 you don't start fighting till your at least 17, but what you can do is after you get a trainer, allow them to group you with a partner you can SPAR with just for the technique. Sparing is with head gear. Also, in boxing gyms, fights or spars are not seperated by race but by skill level. I have spared with girls multiple times and have gotten my *** kicked.

If you live in NY i highly recomened Gleasons Gym in brooklyn. It's World famous. Knock em out

  5. Hit Em Hard.  They'll Take U Serious

  6. Why haven't you asked your "best guy friend" for advice regarding your dilemma.  If anyone should know the answer to this question, I believe he would know all about the ins and  outs of boxing for newcomers.

Do they permit girls into his boxing class?

I'm not too sure how serious a 13 yr. old female or a male for that matter, would be taken in boxing or any other areas of life neither.

However, if you really pursue this field, I don't see why people won't take you serious.  After all, when people see how dedicated you'll be in boxing, then they will see this in you and respect you for it even more.

I know when I was a teenager, I wanted to become a teacher and I pursued that as my career.

I wish you lots of luck with your boxing!

  9. dude.

i know how ur a girl and everything, but MMA/CAGEFIGHTING is the way to go.

believe me, boxing your getting constantly hit in the head, which equals brain damage, look at most boxers when they get old. MMA is grappeling, boxing, kickboxing, BJJ, and technically any other martial art combined into one. search up "ufc girls" or "MMA girls" on youtube.com or something. dont get into boxing.

Did i mention MMA is the fastest growing sport in the WORLD! top (men) fighters get paid sometimes a million dolars a fight, and half that if they win.its ur time to train =D
