  1. It depends on the hold you use--forehand or pen hold or whatever else grip there is.

There are different techniques to serving. Personally, I just hit the ball. Haha. But seriously, you use the underhand, side spin, forehand, etc. My boyfriend has this serve and when it hits the table, it doesn't go straight towards you, but it goes in another direction because the ball spins. So yeah, usually, it's how you manipulate the spinning of the ball to "trick" the opponent on the ball's direction.

I have this serve where the ball lands so close to the net and if the opponent is not expecting that, s/he might be taken by surprise and will have to reach far to reach the ball, but most of the time, it's too late so sucks for them. It's like, a "short" serve.

My teacher used to train me for a "long" serve where I target the edge of the table. That's useful, too. I also had a serve that was quite fast and my target was the very right side of my opponent. My boyfriend had a difficult time chasing after the ball.

You can also serve it super fast like the other guy say. When I do that, I crouch down low, toss the ball high, then hit it using forehand. The disadvantage to that is what if your opponent actually returns the ball? Then it will return to you (most probably) VERY fast. Can you return that?

It depends, really :/ And it's difficult to describe. It's easier to show people. Sorry. Hope I helped, though.

  2. for serving hit it pretty hard up and it will go down magically and it is hard to stop

  3. Try using more top spin from both fore hand and back hand also try slicing it or floating it.  Slicing or floating is done by sliding the paddle under the ball the faster the slice under the ball the slower it will go over the net.  If not you can try serving really fast to the center line on the first serve and if you miss serve it to the extreme angle putting the ball as close as you can to the edge of the table and as close as you can to the net forcing your dad to reach out as far as possible.

Shoot, it would be easier to show you then to tell you, but I hope you can figure it out.

Lots of top spin and back spin in stead of serving it flat.

Good luck and take no prisoners....Peace....cya....

  4. when you start, try to keep the ball as low as possible so it has a flat trajectory.  also experiment with angles, where you want the ball to go.  one that works really well is firing it at your opponents body.  then if you're confident try to put spin on it

  5. There is two serves that you could use. One of them is to hit it very hard and as low as you can. If he thinks it is going to be a let then he won't go and hit it making him do a rushed shot leaving you in the drivers seat for the point. The other serve that you could do is not to hit it with pace, but right near his body so he has to scoop it out from under him and try to get it over the net. It gets my Dad everytime. Those are your two choices as far as i see it. Hope this helps you.
