what can i do to improve my skills as a defender and an overall footballer, are there any tips and drills that i can do to build skill, control, speed and stamina

  1. what I've done, cos i've never wanted to play any other position but defender, is play knockout football with my mates, but just defend constantly and have my back to goal at all times. It really pisses them off cos I block everything, and I improved a lot.


  2. In my opinion a defender needs to be brave, strong and intelligent. You don't neccessarily have to be skillfull, however it does help. Try and use your body strength at all times and don't be scared of jumping for headers even if the attacker is double your height. Finally try and read the game, with enough experience predicting the next pass becomes second nature.

  3. i would just practice a ton, that is what i did and now i am playing with against some of the best teams. it all depends on how much effort you put into the drills. i would do mile runs and time yourself for endurance. i would also do juggling because that helps with ball control.  i play midfield and i practice with my sister trying to get around her with different moves. since you are a defender i would have someone try to get around you and keep practicing that. hope this helps :)
