Question:

I'm a 30-year old male in good shape looking to learn how to box &/or kickbox. Recommendations? How to proceed

My 2 main interests are fitness and learning to defend myself. My main concern is brain damage as I'm no genius but wish to retain my current functional capacity. I have very limited experience in this area. Thanks for any insight!

  1. Just go to a boxing gym and tell the coaches what your goals are. Try to keep the sparring down (because thats where most brain damage will come from) and don't fight. Sparring is kind of necessary if you really wanna learn to fight, but you could probably get by without it or by doing it sparingly.

  2. go for kickbox or even better korean kickbox this is a combination of thai box (muay thai) , and hapkido and about your brains :o if you dont want to fight vs others then just dont .
