What are the names of audio books that Sagan has voiced?

I would also like to listen to some audio books that deal with cosmology, evolution, atheism, philosophy, and other similar subjects.

I do not want someone screaming and preaching at me. I'm a Sagan fan for a reason. I don't want anything scary, I usually try to sleep to these books.

Thanks in advance for all positive input.

  1. I would expect that you could find most of his books as audio versions.

In addition, you might try the following:

    1. Dr. Stephen Jay Gould - Recently unfortunately passed away. Outstanding essays on everything from his specialty (evolution and biology) to baseball - and how they can be compared. Really good stuff, not abrasive.

    2. Dr. Richard P. Feynman - A brilliant (Nobel laureate) physicist who could describe his thoughts clearly and who had a knack for living (and even dying) with a sense of humor. His book "Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman" is a must read for anyone who enjoys science.

    3. Dr. Jacob Bronowski - His Ascent of Man series for the BBC was the precursor and formed the pattern for the later Cosmos series. Dr. Sagan considered Dr Bronowski as a bit of a role model, and you will understand why if you get to see the original series, which is very thoughtful and well - done (Adrian Malone was instrumental in both series, and the similarities are clear). The Ascent of Man deals with all of science and technology on a more general basis, while Cosmos is generally limited to astronomy and planetary science. Dr Bronowski's background was nuclear physics; he worked with John Von Neumann and Leo Szilard, among others, during WW2. His second career was as an outstanding microbiologist, and his third was, like Dr. Sagan, as a producer of outstanding documentaries and books. Really good stuff. Highly recommended.

  2. Log onto your local public library's website and search their catalog for DVDs, videos or talking books by Carl Sagan. Or ask your librarian. The second link below shows what my regional library system, in western Washington, has.

  3. Install LimeWire and do a keyword search.LimeWire is a peer2peer software which lets you to connet to millions of other users collections. Popular audio books can easily be downloaded.

  4. Pale Blue Dot.  Having him read to you is...something else.
