  1. Working in Dubai, and in abroad for that matter, can be very lonely at times. It can be tempting too. We have different perspectives, different lifestyles and different personalities.  The only valuable advice I can give you is to work hard, enjoy a little and save a lot.

Dubai is nothing like you would probably imagine it to be. Dubai teems with expats more than locals. As for my part it is really comforting to see familiar faces (read: kababayans) when I walked out the streets; more comforting when I met Filipinos I will be working with. You won’t even feel that you are that afar, just something like working in Manila if you are from the province. If you are really feeling homesick, there is a radio station that goes Pinoy by late nights (I forgot the name). It has always made me smile when I listen to Pinoy tunes, news and the playful banter among Pinoy callers. Keep the contact number of the Philippine Consulate in your cellphone, you never know when you’re going to need it. Dubai is an enjoyable place. You can say it is a land of opportunities if you are smart enough to recognize these chances. The cost of living in Dubai is quite expensive; be careful of living beyond your means.
