  1. Being there, done that.

I am Italian-Canadian married to a Filipina national. To make the things simple, we married in the Philippines, then the rest follow.

  2. This link should give you some relevant information. Look away from some of the points though as this link is intended for US citizens. I'm sure the requirements are pretty similar for Filipinos though!

    Good luck!

  3. As a Filipino, who perhaps knows the law here are my tips:

    1) Since you are a Filipino and your future spouse is an Italian Citizen, both of you can marry under the law of Japan, following the requirements of Japanese law under the principle of lex loci celebrationis. Your marriage ceremony in Japan and its formalities will be recognized as a valid marriage in the Philippines.

    2) You can also marry under the requirements of Philippine law, in that case both the parties must show that they have the capacity to marry (usually issued by our embassy and the Italian Embassy in Japan). A consular officer may officiate your marriage there in Japan, but the laws and formalities to be followed are those required to Filipinos.

    3) You can marry here. You must have Certificate of No Marriage issued by the NSO, your Italian fiancee must have certification from his/her embassy that he/she is capacitated to marry. Assuming you do not have any impediments, a marriage license may be issued and you may validly celebrate the marriage here.

4.) OR if by any chance you want to marry in Italy. (i dont know their requirements) but your marriage there will also be recognized in the Philippines.

Consult our embassy for details, they may have other paperworks should you want to marry outside our country.

I wish you all the best in life.
