So this year I will be taking ACT. I chose to take chemistry this year but I'm having seconds thoughts. Should I take Physics instead of Chemistry?

One teacher said that it's better to take Physics because it helps on ACT.

I'm bad with these kind of tests so I need a lot of practice.

Physics or Chemistry?

  1. Junior year is the most important year where you want to get the best possible grades. Physics is a hard class. If you are good at math and good at solving problems that require a lot of logic and critical thinking then go for it. However if you think you may not get the best grades in it then just take chemistry. Get an ACT tutor if you need to. I took the SATs not the ACT but I had an SAT tutor who was really amazing and helped me get a really good score. I think a tutor will help you a lot more than a class. You can always take physics senior year this way if you don't get an A in it it's not as bad since your senior year grades are not in your gpa when you apply to college.

  2. I took the ACT before I took physics in high school, and I got a 36 on it, so I'd have to say that physics would not be advantageous.  In fact, chemistry is probably more germane to the test, but the ACT doesn't test specific science knowledge.  If you already chose chemistry, you did it for a reason, so just stick with it.

  3. ACT is usually geared towards Tech-Bound students.

Physics is a senior (12) class at my school, while Chemistry is in junior (11) .  I took Chemistry last year, and it certaintly helped me on my exams, but I do not know if that is right in your case. I would certaintly not pass up Chemistry if you plan on going to regular college, because its required there, if you are shooting for tech school, go for physics. Be sure to be good at math for either.

And you can always take the other your senior year!
