I would like to see massage therapy be used more for healthcare purposes. Yes, a massage is very relaxing, but the benefits a enormous. It increases circulation, lowers blood pressure, and can even relieve muscle tension. I think people in Mississippi just need to be educated about massage therapy. Once the bad name of "massue" which is not MASSAGE THERAPY is cleared people will start to open up.

  1. Work for yourself.  That way you get 100% of the pay and can use *all* your $$$ the way you see fit.  Start by offering a low, introductory price, say $20 for a 60 minute massage in your own home.  Pass out flyers everywhere.  Offer a 100% guarantee.  This is not a money-back offer, but an opportunity for new clients, and those unfamiliar with massage to try YOUR massage free for the first 20 minutes.  If they are not happy with anything so far, they get off the table and leave.  If they are happy (and they will be),  you continue and they pay full price ($20 if still have the intro special or full price of $50 for a 60 minute massage).

Do lots of volunteer work for 5K runs, Relay for Life, church-group fundraisers.  Get business cards from VistaPrint for free (just s&h).  Stick those up in all the health food stores and metaphysical stores.

  2. Many hospitals, chiropractors, physical therapy clinics, health clubs, beauty salons and spas employ or contract massage therapists.

Keep looking, I am sure something will present itself. Have you talked to anyone at your school about job search strategies? Good luck to you.
