Question:

I'm a UCR Chem. Engineer Dropout, how do I get back on Track?

I'm dropped for academic difficulties in my 2nd year in college due to various personal and family issues. But now, after a couple of months, I'm feel more determined than ever to get back into school and finish my engineering degree.

For the most part my GPA for 1st year was above a 3.6 but I messed up two quarter in a row in my 2nd year and UCR dropped me and wants me to change major. After a couple of months of working out issues with my family and my self, I feel I can do much better than before. However UCR told me it was policy, and I have to change major even if it's against my will.

Currently I'm enrolled in a Junior College, and I do not think anyone working can answer my questions reguarding a solution. Not only that, I tried calling other UC's, but no one gave me a straight answer. So now I'm wondering what's my next step? Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

  1. I would do as UCR wants, and get back into the school, and take courses like those in chemical engineering and then go back into the program if you still wish.  I will add another year, but if you are determined you can make it happen.  Another UC probably won't take you, so stick with UCR.  Try biochemistry--that's becoming a large part of what chemical engineers is need to know.
