I'm a US citizen - how long will it take to get my longer-than-6 months UK work permit visa?

I've sent in my biometric testing form, visa application form, supporting documents, etc. I'm applying for a work permit visa in the longer-than-6-months category, in my case, 60 months. I'm a PhD scientist going to work in the publishing industry.

Doubt you're really a PhD scientist....first off someone with a PhD wouldn't say, "I'm a PhD scientist going to work in the publishing industry." It's completely irrelevant to the question. Anyways, it's probably going to take atleast 3 months.
