  1. US Social Security card is the same as our National Insurance card.

First I need to know what type of visa you came to the UK on. If you came over on a fiancée or spouse visa/Entry Clearance providing you have an offer for work you can go to our Social Security Offices check the phone book for your local one and apply for one there. You fill out a form and it normally takes 4 to 6 weeks for your card and number to come through.

On the above visa's you have no access to public funds for the first 2 years unless of course you now hold a residents visa in which case you do.

Really do need more information to help you.

  2. you will have yo have proof of citzenship and a  copy of birthcertificate and send   to

    Social Security Headquarters

    PO BOX 17087

    Baltimore,Maryland   21203

    U.S.A.

  3. You need to go to the embassy, with your passport. You can file the paperwork there. Don't expect an immediate issue of number.
