Ok, just bought a yamaha rbx170 bass guitar to start learning on. Well, its gonna be time to buy a really nice bass sometime in the near future. What would be a really nice bass to buy? looking for something with a great sounds a preferably a long scale. Any ideas? not saying anything like $5000 or somethin, but anywhere from 500 - maybe 1500.. the type of music im into is def rock. metallica is def number 1, chevelle, seether nonpoint, etc.. jason newsted is def the man. so something that will fall into those categories. thanks you all

  1. Yamaha makes a fine guitar and should serve you well for many years.

  2. Yeah, the Yamaha should be fine for now, but there will definitely be a time when you want to upgrade =P

Check out some of the higher-end Fender Jazz/Precision basses, Ibanez SR series, Warwick and MusicMan (pretty pricey, but top-quality instruments), Peavey, Schecter, Spector, Traben...all of these companies make some very good, reliable instruments that would fit right into your price range (and sound good in the music you like ^_^ )

The most important thing to do is to play the instruments before you buy them. Go to a music store with several in mind, and spend some time playing them, to find out which one sounds the best, feels the best, suits your needs the best; then you should be set =)

Hope you find what you're looking for.

    Cheers! ^_^
