  1. Valerian root has been used for centuries, since the time of Hippocrates. I don't understand why people would trust chemically derived drugs and doubt natural herbs. It's perfectly safe. I use drops or pills. And sleep like a baby....

  2. There's nothing dangerous about valerian root. Go ahead and take it. For some people it works to help calm the nerves or as a mild sedative before going to bed. For others, it doesn't do a thing.

If you're not sure how much to use, Google 'valerian root dose'. You'll run across the info. Or go see a herbalist and ask their advice.

  3. I take valerian root... there is nothing to be nervous about. Everyones bodies are different..I take 2 capsules when I take it..Helps me sleep very well!!

  4. I am a medical herbalist and can assure  you it is absolutely safe. So safe it can be given to pregnant women (within normal dose range of course).

Valerian is a gentle but effective nervous system tonic. It's effect is dose dependent, meaning that if you take a little it is relaxing and a higher dose will greatly aid sleep.

Valerian can be used for sleeplessness, anxiety, stress, restlessness and pain. However it can cause wakefulness in only about 2% of people.

Yes about a level teaspoon steeped for 10 minutes in hot water if it is fairly finely ground. You can add a little honey and/or milk if you like.

No health risk at correct dose which is one to three cups daily (1 tsp per cup).

Don't take with sleeping pills as it will increase their effect.
