Question:

I'm a bit confused about the Fibonacci sequence?

There is a question stated like this:

List the first eight terms of the sequence formed by finding the differences of the successive terms in the Fibonacci sequence.

Now, how I am understanding it is that I should name the first eight terms in the Fibonacci sequence. Meaning the answer would be:

0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21.

However, I am confused about the part that says "finding the difference of successive terms." Does that mean that the answer should be:

0+1, 1+1, 1+2, 2+3, and so forth. Can you help me please?

  1. This is the way I interpret the question.

The differences of the successive terms in the Fibonacci sequence are:

    The original sequence :

    0,1,2,2,3,5,8,13,21

    The successive differences are:

    1-0,2-1,2-2,3-2,5-3,8-5,13-8,21-13

    1,1,0,1,2,3,5,8

  2. I see finding difference as in subtract:

1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-2, 5-3, etc. each difference should then equal the term before (except w/ the first one, 1-0 which is 1 so it doesn't really work)
