  1. Welcome to Montreal (bienvenue a toi)

If you could specify what kind of restaurants you are looking for?

There is Moishes steak house, which is recognized one of the world's 10 best restaurants worldwide by Forbe's traveller. Then there's Magnan tavern which has the best roastbeef (and quite delicious beef ribs). There is Bar-B-Barns for the ribs, Schwartz's for the smoked meat.

I have visited, tested and approved above restaurants (except Moishes, which is expensive and yet for me to discover).

You don't mention where you're from either. If you haven't gone to you definetely MUST go to a sugar shack (known as cabane a sucre) for maple sirup. It is very traditional and it is the season right now. It is not high class cuisine, but it is what quebecers do at least once a year in march.

There are all kinds of cuisine of the world in Montreal, Greek, Arab, Indian, South American.....

The web site that I provided is a great resource.

The high style restaurants should be found on the Plateau sector, Mont-Royal street and Saint-Laurent (also known as The Main) street. - if I am not mistaken.

Good luck to you and again welcome

  2. I'd highly recommend the following as Montreal's best:

    Toqué

    Au Pied du Cochon

    Le Club Chasse et Peche

    La Chonique

Milos (with sister restaurants in NYC and Athens)

These are true foodie restaurants...not simply expensive restaurants with ho hum food relying on a reputation built in the 80's or earlier.

  3. QUEUE DE CHEVAL., le piedmontais, prima donna. globe . good luck oh yes and also milos(fish)

  4. A must see is 40 West. It's located in the West Island area of Montreal. It's a high class very expensive steak house. Typical dinner for two will run into the hundreds of dollars. I have been a few time...on my fathers tab...I could never afford it out of my pay check. A lot of business meetings are made over meals. Even working as a server will get you about $50 to $200 in tips per table depending on size of the group. I'll post the link to the web site but as any high class place no prices are listed.

The Treehouse is in our downtown area and they are a high end place to eat. I will post the Treehouse daily menu for you too.

    Hope this helps.
