I'm just tired of Christmas decorations starting in October. I refused to listen to christmas songs in the months of Aug. -november. The only time I DON'T want to punch Santa in the face is December.

I don't really care to go to church on Christmas and Easter. All the rest Sundays? Sure yea. I'll go. I'll go on a Wednesday.

I'm just wondering if I'm the only one out there and maybe find a way to stop this madness.

I am a follower of Jesus and and I love learn about him and God more to be a better christian.

I just hate all this christmas c**p!

  1. I know exactly what you mean. It's not so much Christmas itself, it's how commercialized it has become. A co-worker of mine was at the Hobby Lobby here in my town a MONTH ago and said they had their Christmas stuff out already... a MONTH ago! Now granted, they always do have SOME Christmas stuff out year-round, but she said it's WAY more than what is normally out... it's crazy!!!

I feel the same way as  you... in December, I'm all for Christmas. But I like celebrating one holiday at a time, please. Labor Day hasn't even come yet, not to mention Halloween and Thanksgiving... sheesh! I realize people wanna get some shopping done early, but 5 months early??? That's a little ridiculous...

Reminds me of my stepmom a couple years ago... at Easter, she asked me and my brother to write down a Christmas wish list... OK, we're talking EASTER... 8 or 9 months away!!! I was like, dude! I barely recovered from this past Christmas and you want me to start thinking of NEXT Christmas?! Wow...

It's a wonder that they haven't just started leaving all the Christmas stuff out year-round. Seriously, they might as well save themselves the trouble of putting it all away only to put it all back out in another 5-6 months.

  2. Months leading up to christmas is Santa over-load. You can't get away from the music and images of Christmas, and by the time Christmas comes you're sick of it. I think a good many Christians have the same feeling. They (commercial America) start the advertising much too early -- there is no message to what they say, just the urging to buy what they are trying to shove down you're throat -- proliferating the air waves, internet networks and paper media with the empty message that the latest musical CD will somehow improve your life, or add greater meaning to Christmas and what it represents. It's total bull and it's sick. Trust me you're not alone.

  3. are you crazy ?!?!?!?!?!?! christmas is amazing its the greatest time of the bloody year! the songs , films , food , and decs are brilliant!!

  4. Whether you love the holidays are not, are irrelevant, it's your celebration over the birth of Jesus - that is what you should really care about. Getting into the hype and spirit three months early isn't for everyone, but people who love the holidays and festivities do.

I wouldn't worry about anything, I know a few Christians from school that really don't give two monkeys about Christmas - not anymore anyway. Just celebrate what you want, when you want, as and how you choose to.

  5. Welcome to the club.  If you've followed the trends of Christmas advertising, you might have noticed how merchants have gradually moved their ads closer and closer and now in 2008 we're actually seeing Christmas displays for 2019 (lol).  Seriously, just try to realize the folly of human nature.  Try to dismiss the madness that greed drives men to.  Remember the spirit of the season, and just appreciate  the fact that God sent His Son into the world to live a perfect life of obedience to Him and to die on the cross so that we would be forgiven of our sins.

  6. You are a very wise woman!  Christmas abandoned Christ many years ago as the world has become so 'materialistic.'  I love the Lord too and it breaks my heart to see people celebrating each other, gifts, family dinners and none of it is centered around the very being many holidays were created for. Every Easter and Christmas the churches are filled beyond capacity with members whom only show up 2 times a year just to show off new outfits!  I grow weary and sounds like you have too.

  7. I used to be a sales clerk at Rite Aid, and the only way that you are going to stop the X-mas decor from coming out in sept is if they stop selling and making the Corperations big money.  X-mas is the the biggest sales jump for a Co.

  8. It seems like you have a passion for hatred of commercial Christianity.

Good! Anger is a good thing, the bible preaches it. But before you shoot the messenger remember God was angry many times. Anger is good when presented in the correct form.

Maybe your role is to present the correct form of what God intended. Santa was never Christmas. Jesus was Christmas, i believe Santa is a very common society replacement for Jesus.

Dont let your light be put down to an ember because of the work of Satan on God's festivals. Instead let your anger fuel a positive passion for God's work in you.

Its good that you feel anoyed about the "commercial Christmas". Now act on it!

  9. I'm a believer too and I also hate all this business around christmas: people don't remember seriously what Christmas means.

Personally I go to a small meeting (evangelical) every Sunday and we sing, read the Bible and  "break the bread" and remember how Jesus came on earth and what he did for us: so we don't remember the Lord's birth only on Christmas but every Sunday we could say, in our prayers.I think what you feel must be , in a way, like what Jesus felt when casting the merchants out of the Temple.

@lauralovebug : "Seriously, they might as well save themselves the trouble of putting it all away only to put it all back out in another 5-6 months."

                      ROFLOL !!!

  10. "Every Easter and Christmas the churches are filled beyond capacity with members whom only show up 2 times a year just to show off new outfits!"

What an extremely ignorant person. My family only goes to church on those days and let me assure you I don't go showing off my outfit. I go to be happy and remember Jesus' story you stupid fool. Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you go running off your mouth.

  11. Maybe it's just the commercialism that bothers you and not the meaning.

  12. I know what you mean, It just gets to be TOO much.

I just politely dodge what I can and grin and bear the rest. If you can pace yourself you can actually find some fun in it. Just don't get your expectations too high and don't let yourself get PUSHED into something that you really detest. Relax and enjoy your day off.

  13. there is nothing wrong with disliking the cecular version of what was meant to be a memorial of a great miracle and sacrafice. on a lighter note i think just about everyone dislikes how store drag out holidays. they were putting out halloween candy at the grocery store last week.
