I'm a cutter and going to a new school. What is the best way to hide? How to react if found out??

I used to go to a private school and am now going to a public school. I Self injure. Mostly my stomach but plenty of other scars. Private school didn't make a big deal out of it. But how do I hide the cuts/scars during like gym and stuff? Please don't tell me to stop. I will when I'm ready and now so much is going on I couldn't get through it without releasing somehow.

  1. Make up a whole thing about how your "aunt" has a crazy cat. Laugh about it, but don't make a big deal of it.

    Also, stop. :)


  2. Depends on how bad they are. Mine weren't bad because I used scar reducer all summer and since I was moving around nobody was really like 'Your arms!?!?'

    But if you're still cutting now I can't suggest much. Arm warmers or wrist bands, also if the scars are thin enough then band aids can help. No make-up or things like that, it's not good for the cuts.  

  3. You should see a therapist. I know you don't want to stop cutting right now and that is fine, but you should at least talk to someone who can help you understand as to why you are cutting yourself. If you talk to a therapist they are required by law to not tell anyone what you tell them, not even your parents and they will probably help you develop healthier strategies to deal with stress.

  6. just so you know, i am a self injurer too.

    In gym, change facing your locker so that no one can see your stomach. As for arms, try lots of bracelets. Or you could always go with a jacket or long sleeved shirt. Leggings are also very cute.  But don't worry too much about hiding though because your true friends won't care and anybody who does isn't worth the trouble.

  7. You're not alone! I'm a cutter as well. I cut my upper thighs and sometimes my ankles. I hide mine well. Just wear long pants and long shirts. I think thats the only way. Dont listen to all them mean people. They dont understand what we go through. People think we do it casue we want others to notice us, like giving attention... However we dont. We could care less for the attention. We do it casue its a way to releive stressful times. & obviously all of us cutters know its wrong but it takes time to let go. Its more of a habit than a problem. Very addicting.

    Like i said just wear longer clothing.

  8. wear undershirts for gym and just keep yourself covered you might want to get rid of the scars I use bio oil. Also you might want to try other things to release what you are going through I use the rubber band snapping thing on my wrist.

  9. i cant believe that the private school didnt make a big deal out of it-are they idiots? and what about your parents? arent they concerned about you? this is a very dangerous thing- you need to seek professional help, and maybe get on some kind of medication before you do any real damage to yourself. please, if your parents wont take you to someone, then please take yourself. i hope you get help. i dont want you to be hurting yourself anymore. please?

  11. Yeah...I lost my friend to self injury...She accidentally cut her vein too close. I used to think about doing it, but I don't.

    Do you have a choice to not be in gym? I'm figuring you don't. Just explain to your coach that you are nervous about other people looking at you. You can say that you're afraid of being harassed. I just hope that you have a choice. It is very hard to hide scars. Good luck!
