I'm a cyclist & I need sunglasses?

I need ones that I can wear during night rides & during races. Know of any cheap ones? I'm trying not to spend over $120, but I don't want just clear lenses. I need to be able to ride during night and day and not worry about the sun blinding me.

  1. Ha that much for sunglasses I get my's at the dollar store.

  2. Try www.sportrx.com, or do a search for cycling sunglasses online.  There are some that have interchangeable lenses for different lighting conditions made just for cyclists.  They can be bought in your price range as long as you don't need prescription lenses.

  3. Don't go cheap on eye protection.  Make sure they're shatter proof.  I've taken more gravel off my lenses than I care to think about.  Not to mention the occasional cigarette butt from a passing car.  Good eyeware can save your vision.

  4. For night I'd use yellow or clear. For daylight I like amber. I don't see 1 pair good for day and night. I always buy $20 sport glasses. They have worked well for be for decades and I don't have to worry about them. I've had one pair for 15 years now, believe it or not.

  5. Don't go cheap.  You don't want your lenses cracking and stabbing you in the eye if you crash.  I like Oakleys they are shatterproof and well made.

I have M Frames with interchangeable lenses and the yellow ones work great at night.

I don't know if Mframes are made any more but I heard the Radars are great too.

  6. Tifosi Quam 1.5 Sunglasses - 4 Lens Set

I found these women specific sunglasses this spring. They work like a charm on and off the bike. I was like you and just needed something that would work and be reliable. They do have interchangeable lenses and are super comfortable. I did not order them through this site, just found them there; I ordered them for about $20 less through Campmor or the online REI outlet. Good Luck.

  7. Oakleys are the best.  You can get them with interchangeable lenses for different riding conditions and they're priced right about where you're looking at.

  8. Forget what those dudes say "don't go cheap". they bought in to the hype and fashion of buying non-script glasses that are way over priced, just so they can put an Oakley stinker on their car.

Any good fitting sport glasses will have poly carb lenses and be as tough as any in fashion ones. Almost any sport glasses are shatter proof. As long as they fit you well and have the tint you want. I don't think I ever spent over $30 for eye wear. The $10 ones will have lens coatings that deteriorate in a year or 2 though.

Trying to scare you with glasses shattering etc is ridiculous. If you want to blow $120 that's cool, the glasses will work fine. But a pair for 1/4 of the cost will work fine as well.

As far as tint, amber works for day time and dusk but any color at night just reduces light. I had one pair that had interchangeable lenses - I didn't like it. Easier just to have to pairs.
