I would like to make some good draft choices so that I have a fair chance against these guys! Thanks to anyone who can share some tips.

  1. If you are asking for help maybe the guy is correct.

  2. Pass on Moss and Brady. They won't have the year they had last year. Pick up running back if you are in the first five picks. If not grab peyton and andre johnson.

  3. Draft Brett Favre at QB, a lot of guys think he is past his prime and so they will pass him up. His move to a new team will set him up with a lot of new opportunities.

Nate Burleson WR for the Seahawks is also a good pick. He will be overlooked because in the past he was lower on the depth chart and primarily a return man, but with the injuries to Deion Branch and Bobby Engram he has move into a major role in the West Coast Offense.

Ray Rice RB Baltimore is the backup, but is very likely to move into the starting role because of the inconsistency of their current starter. the Ravens have a very run oriented offense.

These should help, I don't want to just pick a whole team for you because then it would just be my team, but these guys should make you competitive.

  4. Best advice? read some articles, and ignore what the first answer said.

Drafting all depends on where you're at, and its hard to give general strategy.  If you have a early pick (top 5) you should get a good RB to start the year. after that, it's going to be hard for everyone, even seasoned vets to the fantasy world.

Read up on it - Yahoo and ESPN have great and insightful articles on fantasy football (wow.. i used ESPN and great & insightful in the same sentence - that's a new one to me).

If a position goes on a run (ie. 3-5 defenses go in a row, or 3-5 TEs go in a row) and it's your slot, get the best player at that position.  unless its obnoxiously early (3rd - 4th round for TEs and anything before the 8th for DEF).

Buy a draft magazine.  Just bought mine at lunch and it is 4 bucks well worth it.

Last, but not least - pay attention to the injury report.  Don't be THAT guy (in your case, girl) who drafts the player who's out for the year before the draft happens.  You'll be laughed out of the league for sure if you do that.

My mom plays in our family league (no money... but bragging rights is more important around here, anyway) and she does well for herself, usually finishes in the top 5

  5. Well, here is the draft order i would go in: RB, QB, WR, RB, WR, DEF, WR, TE, RB, WR, K. First of all, you need a good running back. Then a QB of course, because those two positions will get you the most points. Now, depending on the receivers you get, you might want to pick a third receiver before a defense, because defenses are important, but not as important as a wide receiver. I've already done my draft and this was my order, so if you follow this, you should have a pretty good team, good luck.

  6. do you know what pick you have yet? Depending your pick, most likely you should go running back, Only wr and QB you should even consider in the 1st round is Moss and Brady.   Make sure and grab 4 rbs at least, I personally like to have 5-6 rbs with 2-3 solid starters and 2-3 more backups who have potential to start.  Wait on the tight end position if you miss out on witten, gates, cooley, winslow.  either way dont get a te till the 5th at the earilest if one of these guys drops, otherwise wait till like the 8th 9th 10th even, and get a guy like olsen or owen daniels or even a dustin keller.  Good late round running backs are ricky williams, chris johnson, Steve Slaton, ray rice.  and dont pick a defense till at least round 10 or 11.  and wait for a kicker till like round 13 or later.  Good luck.

  7. Do several mock drafts to get a feel about where guys are going after a while some things will seem rather consistent in the drafts.  (I.E. RBs going fast, Tom Brady being first QB taken, Moss first taken). Try to not be hometown biased if you have a football team in your town go for the smartest choices or look for the next big thing.  Make a couple of teams and read injury reports too. Have fun.
