first of all its short cuts. and no there arent but. watch english progams on TV will help you better reconize the words you see and here ever day   ( like the news and educational stuff)

Find a conversation partner - preferably someone interested in learning your native language.  Alternate between sessions between languages.  Sessions don't have to be about anything - just talk about what you did last week, or take a trip to the supermarket.  

Read English newspapers, watch the news in English.  Other sources are OK as well, but newspapers and news-casts will help you with proper grammar and pronounciation  - something you won't necessarily get from watching popular movies all the time.

Avoid hanging out with your fellow countrymen since you'll just use your native language instead of practicing your English.
