  1. Psychology is an excellent major depending on your psychology department. Seriously, if the faculty in the psych department has a bad reputation, it wouldn't be a good idea to major in psychology.

  2. Wow, you are so full of yourself.

  3. I'm currently  in a doctoral program in Counseling Psychology. I'd definitely recommend Psychology as a major if you're interested in pursuing a degree in Psychology. I mean, it makes intuitive sense, doesn't it? ;)

But if you'd like to try out other areas of study.. say Philosophy, Biology, English, whatever.. you can minor in Psychology. Talk with your advisor, too. They are a rich source of information and have more answers than we give them credit for! I'd say to do some research into the graduate programs; get a feel for what requirements they have. Most programs list the prerequisite courses they require for admission (such as personality, research & methods, etc). What courses you take may also depend on what degree you're pursuing; Masters or PhD.

If you are seriously interested in psychology, h**l just major in it! If it doesn't work out, you can always change majors. In my undergraduate course of events, I changed majors four times! I was Biochemistry, Sociology, Human Development and Family Studies, and finally Psychology :P Good luck!

  4. Horray! You're going to be a psychologist!  Have fun being in school for 6 to 8 years, enjoy the GRE and filling out applications (at the expense of nearly a hundred bucks per each) for grad schools, and then you can also enjoy the sheer bliss of working for two years on your dissertation, only to have some old guy look at it, frown, and say "I kind of expected more..."  You're really in for a treat...
