  1. Forget about the driver, slow down your swing and your handicap should drop a bit.  Its tough to hit it straight when you cant control the clubface.

  2. It depends on how you define "very fast".  If you're a high handicapper, I wouldnt get too caught up in getting exactly the correct shaft.  You'd be better off spending the time and effort on getting lessons and getting better.

  3. you may want to consult a golf pro about it.

  4. Go to a club fitter. You will benefit greatly from this. They will match your swing to a shaft, not just your speed and power. I would slow down your club head speed though. Control is way more important than power in this game. Remember, if you hit a shot 300 yards and it goes right on a 420 yard par four, you will still be over 160 out from the pin. 260 straight is the equivilent to 300 and right. Slow down your swing, and find a smooth tempo. Then 300 yards will come back as you gain timing. It will happen. Trust me.

  5. A lot of things depend on deciding the type of shaft. How do you hit your shots.. fade / hook... is the trajectory high / low....

usually.. fast swing speed.. more than 110.. then STIFF. The decide on the kind of kickpoint you want.. mid / low...however being i high handicapper.. im guessing you are in the 20s.... a normal STIFF Flex shaft with mid to low kickpoint should be fine.

  6. go to a range that sells clubs and get fitted you would not believe how big a difference a shaft that is suited to you makes!!!!!!I was a high handi capper like you high teens and like you have a fast swing i was a new golfer and was using old clubs from a thrift store they were too short for me and were toe down and the shaft were just whippy regulars after getting fitted I bought new clubs 2* upright 1inch over lenght x stiff Adams game improvement clubs My driver I bought was a demo callaway ft-5 9.5 with a xstiff graphite design 65gram high kick point and wow I now pound it straight over 300 GET FITTED  YOU WILL BE AMAZED

especially if you like me were using the wrong clubs to begin with now if i could figure out course management i might get down to a single digit handicap...Ya right I can wish anyway lol
