I'm a highschool drop out,does this mean I'm stupid?

I ask this because my ex boyfriend seems to think so. I admit I am definitely not as smart as other people who have stayed in school, but I'd at least like a little credit. I had lots of problems in school and he doesn't seem to think that is an excuse. Maybe it isn't,but I have anxiety and mot situations I'm not good with.

I plan on getting my GED and going to college still, but why does it seem like most people automatically assume you're really stupid just because you didn't finish high school?

  1. School is tough.  If you go on to college, it won't be an issue, but if you don't go on, you may often face bias.

Many people don't feel as smart as others, and the truth is, school is designed for 1 type of learner.

You can do it, however.  Don't give up on college!

  2. its ok your not stupid its just your assumed stupid when you don't finish high school.

  3. because you gave up on something that the majority of the US population completes and you are trying to make excuses for it.  Maybe you are not stupid, but your choice to drop out of school was stupid.

  4. F@ck what people think. as long as you are trying to better yourself you can be happy with yourself.

  5. school is not for everybody.

  6. You're smart enough to have made him your EX-boyfriend, right?

Seriously, dropping out of school is often (not always) a stupid decision, but it doesn't mean YOU'RE stupid. People who stay in aren't smarter than you, but they are getting more education.

College isn't for everyone, either. Don't go to college just because other people do. Decide what you want to do in life and whether you need college to do it. Maybe you don't, and that's okay. Or maybe you'll want to go ten years from now, and if you really want to go, you'll be a better student.

If you had problems that kept you from finishing high school, you need to resolve them before starting college anyway. If anxiety is keeping you from doing well at learning and taking tests, get help for that. call your local community college about GED courses and ask about counseling for school anxiety.

And don't hang around people who call you stupid.
