  1. my daughter was very sick when she was in school and we had to do home school. there is a very very good program in our town. but we live in california and they are not all very good. you can see if your school district has a program called 'Independent Learning Center' through your county's school district office. also they can be calling it 'Independent Study' If they say its not possible than they are full of you know what. and you tell them there is such a thing as 'individule learning plan' YOU Have the RIGHT to be educated even if you are sick. I dont know what state you are in. but in california some towns really were so bad but the one in Mariposa california was very good. infact no matter what state you are in you can e mail me and I will give you the name of a teacher who loves children who want to be educated and you can call her she will know more. You do deserve an education.

this independent study is exactly what you need. they even will tutor for free. I always tell them how grateful I am for their help. and believe me I wouldnt give them that satisfaction if they didnt deserve it.

  2. If you are ill, every public school system can and does provide tutors. Have mom call the school system and if she is overloaded, social services.

  3. Have you previously been homeschooled?  Is this the first year because of your health? I'm not sure what your current capacity is healthwise, but here are some options:

Find laws for homeschooling at http://www.hslda.org  so you can make sure to meet your state's requirements.

http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/inde... (A to Z Homescool) Find some possible things you can do on your own to relieve some of mom's burden.

Consider unschooling.  Become self-motivated and just start studying what interests you.  Keep track of what you study by writing your daily educational opportunities in a journal - whether it be spending the day with the History Channel, heading to the library to research killer whales, or just learning more about what your illness is.  These are valid learning experiences.  Just because what your take in for information isn't fed to you in the model of the public school, doesn't mean you aren't learning.

Even fixing supper for your mom is an educational experience.

If you can find a local homeschool support group, they may even be able to help out with providing some free resources for subject materials you can use. There should be state links to find homeschool support at the http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/inde... site.

Best to you and your mom.

  4. This is not a complete answer to your question, but I have a cousin who is in the SAME EXACT situation as yourself... doctor bills and all. Her mom (knowing diddly-squat about homeschool) was sending her through an online homeschooling program and it was fake as ever! Be careful if you wish to do this.  There could be someone online promoting their "online homeschool hoax" and try to hook you up with it and take your money.  The best thing (I can think of) would be to call places in your area and ask people who can give you a name right off the top of their head and tell you something good about the program.  Above this, sweetie I would advise an alternative school before homeschool... they are MUCH more successful.  Online degrees and diplomas are starting to look very "suspect" to employers because there are sooo many and who's to say yours is real?  This happens a LOT with these kind of graduates and their job searching, and trying to prove it is embarrassing and just a hassle in itself.  Hope this helps babe!

  5. There are virtual schools which are public depending on your state there's a website.  Try to google it.  Good luck and I hope things get better.

  6. get in touch with the school and explain the situation they should be able to tell you what you need to do and to help you get it all set up

Good Luck  Hope you are better soon
