  1. You can definitely do it.  You're talking about dropping 12 seconds, which seems like a lot and those seconds are very tough to loose, but it's possible.  Personally, I've dropped 22 seconds in two years, and I'm looking to do more.

Like anything, you've gotta make sure you have a solid distance foundation before anything else, so be able to run 5-10 miles paced first.  Then get in those interval workouts.  1000s, 800s, 600s, 400s, 200s.  They're all good.  I would work them out so you run the same distance all the time.  For instance, if you start with 5 800s, later progress to 10 400s.  As you get better at the longer intervals, work on speed with short ones--400s, 200s, and add in 100s or striders at the end of every workout.

  2. woah that is heaps good

yes i do think that you can do it..

i think that 400 to 800m reps would be good

or abit of sprinting would do the job

    good luck!

  3. I think you already know.

  4. It is possible, but hard for us to say.  Have you been running since junior high and this is your peak?  Or did you just start track this spring and this was your natural ability?  Personally, I hit 2:12 as a soph and only got down to 2:01 as a senior, but I was a much better miler/2-miler.

I would recommend training over the summer (mainly distance), doing cross country in the fall, training over the winter, and doing track again in the spring.

Talk to you coaches about your goal.  They can help you set up a plan to achieve it.

    Good luck.
