That I don't know what I want to major in when I go to college??

I wanted to be a journalist, then I changed my mind. Now I want to be a veterinarian but i'm not too good at chemistry. I also would like to be a cosmetoligist, but my parents don't think its a "serious" job.

  1. i wouldn't worry, I am going to be a high school freshmen next month, and I still don't really know were I want to go for college or technical school or what I want to be when I grow up. Just give it some thought, and if you still don't know after graduation it still is fine to think about it after high school

  2. Its very common that high schoolers have no clue what they want to do in college. And even when you get there you can change your major countless times. The important thing is to take some time to think of what your generally passionate about. You should narrow down all your choices by deciding either: Liberal arts, Sciences, Fine arts, Engineering (or look at what the college youre going to offers). Liberal arts offer a wide variety of majors and if you wanted to switch between majors, its relatively easy.

College is to acquire skills, so do something you love and are relatively good at and youll be fine :)

  3. no, its fine :)

Im gonna be a freshman in hs in a month, and i dont know what i wanna do. Dont worry, u'll figure it out :)

You have one more year on HS, decide then!

  4. you have time. Next year: decide then!

  5. It's completely normal to have no idea what you want to major in! When i graduated from High School I wanted to be a PC Technician, an Interior Designer, an Accountant, and so many more. Now I'm 22 I've been going to school off and on for the past 4 years and working mostly and I have now decided that I want to go in to counseling. The most important thing is making sure you find something that you enjoy doing. If you dont you will just be unhappy and unfulfilled and that can effect all the other aspects of your life.

Also, I don't know what exact field of cosmetology you're thinking about, but my older sister is a hair stylist and it is a pretty serious job. Just like anything else, you get out of it what you put in. You have the potential to make plenty of money. It's alot more than just making people look good. There is alot of business and surprising a lot of science involved in it.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

  6. well if u are going to be a junior then u have that whole year and then ur Senior year so u have 2 whole years to think about it

id go with the cosmetology because that's a pretty short time to go to college and nobody likes school

    school sux balls

  7. it's okay everythin will fall in place when it's time.

  8. No.. most juniors don't know what they want to major in when they go to college. My sister decided right before she went to college and even switched many times and now she has a really good paying job. I am also a junior and I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. If you want to be a veterinarian just try to work hard at chemistry.

  9. alot of 1st and 2nd year college students don't even know what they want to major in, so you definitely have time...heck, some college kids graduate with a major in something and wind up doing a job completely unrelated to their major...start thinking about it, but don't become to worried or concerned over your major. Just find somethings you like to do and research the career paths and see if you can see yourself doing that for the next 20,30,40, or even 50 years!
