I'm a lacto-ovo-vegetarian - so I eat eggs and dairy, I also eat fish. But I'm overweight, I don't know what to cut out or what not to eat to lose weight?

I'm also going to start swimming twice a week, will this help?

Also how quickly will I lose weight? I need to do it as quickly as I can.

Any help would be great thanks :o)

  2. If you really want to lose weight- cut out the eggs and  dairy. If you absolutely can't- get non fat diary products and egg whites. Fish is good for you though- so keep that :) Eat whole wheat rice, pasta, bread.. instead of whites. You should eat more veggies, fruits, tofu, peanuts than before, and probably eat less carbs ( but still eat them- they are still good for you!).

Have fun with your diet- make up cool recipes! Try new things! Good luck! :)

  3. well dairy adds a lot of calories. I would watch your calories and swim. Yes swimming is one of the best exercise.

  4. Contrary to what people believe, there ARE fattening vegetarian foods. Watch what you eat, try mypyramid.gov for nutrition information, such as your goal calorie intake, ect. Swimming is a great way to exercise, and any form of exercise will help. =)

  5. You should only loose a couple of pounds a week to be healthy.

Be sure to balance proteins, carbs, fiber, and vitamin rich veggies. Substitute vinegar and olive oil for salad dressing.Try dipping your fork in the dressing instead of pouring it on your salad. Switch to diet soda or eliminate soda altogether. Take a vitmin suppliment. Eat 6 small meals a day instead of three big ones. Do not skip breakfast. make breakfast the largest meal. Avoid fried foods and processed carbs such as pasta. Switch to whole grains. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise at least 30 minutes 3X a week.

Follow the food pyramid. measure your portions.

Drink you coffee with skim milk instead of cream.

  6. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian, because i don't eat meat but i do eat eggs and dairy products. however, since you eat fish, you are a pescetarian. since you're no longer eating most meats, make sure you are getting enough protein from nuts, etc., because it will help your muscles grow. also, make sure you're not eating too much pasta and bread, as that will go straight to your stomach, and a few other unwanted areas. it sounds like since you'll be swimming, you'll be getting more cardio excersize, which can help you  shed pounds. a tip i would give you from my own experience is to walk places while the weather is nice. its an easy way to do cardio and i lost 8 lbs. from it.

only you have control as to how quickly you'll lose weight, because you have to commit to it. i lost about 10 pounds in 2 months from becoming lacto ovo vegetarian and exercising.
