We've had a lot of spam in our very targeted group. Our coaches are really busy and we use our space for proprietary info that only other 2y2r coaches read. We want to use this space to share with our other members and not have it open to the general public. How do I change the membership structure so that I have to approve any new "non-member" post?

Thanks.

  1. Go to Management then Posting and Archives. Edit that. One of the issues is Moderate Messages.  You will then have to approve any message.

If your members are behaving and the spam comes from a new member then you have to pre-approve each new member.  That might be easier than approving each message. This is what I did and it helped a lot.

One thing you cannot fix is getting spam to yourself as groupname-owner@yahoogroups.com.

  2. Here is how you can moderate new members of your group:

    Hope this helps.
