As I said before, I swim. I also have a horrible knee problem. I have to wear a ace bandage around my knee to school. The other day, I went to swim practice and I had to do the breaststroke kick. My knee hurt so bad that my coach just told me to pull. I asked my coach if there was such thing as a waterproof knee brace and he said yes. But when I asked my dad he said that he doesn't think there is. Also I have to keep swimming because I'm not very good on land and because of swimming I have gotten out of PE in school, so I have to keep swimming for those that will say pick up a different sport. So is there one? I really hope there is

  1. www.thebackcarewarehouse.co.uk seems to have neoprene braces and others that look like they may be more robust. Swimming has helped my knee and back problems so much so good luck!

  2. probably but i don't know where to get 1,sorry

  3. I know a bunch of swimmers with knee problems, and they just don't do breaststroke to avoid putting stress on it. I'd talk to your coach about that, because even with a brace, breaststroke is pretty tough on knees. I know that there are such things as waterproof leg braces (one of our divers had to wear one last year) but I don't know where you can get one- try asking your doctor.

  4. Hi,

I came across this similar thread that might help:

"I have knee problems. Its called chondromalacia. Im also a competitive swimmer. I have a neoprene(sp?) knee brace given to me by my orthopedist. I wear it basically all day long. But when I go to swim practice my knee is constantly hurting. Can I wear my knee brace in the water? If not where can I buy a waterproof knee brace?"

    Good luck!

  5. Yes there is. Here is one choice:

    (It's listed under ACL Injury)

DonJoy makes great braces, I own two ( =

You could also ask your ortho to recommend one.

    Good luck!!!
