I'm a tourist planning to give birth in the u.s.are there some medical aid/assistance for low income?

my family doesn't know about my pregnancy.so, just have to live with my relatives in the u.s. i don't want them to be burdened with my hospitalization expences. is there a way that i could ask for assitance from the social services?thanks

  1. Well. since you are giving birth to the child on US soil, then it becomes a citizen of the United States, therefore, giving you stay here, and entitling you to full government assistance, including welfare and medicaid.

    A tourist? Really......


  2. You probably could get some assistance if you were a legal U.S. citizen. Otherwise, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

  3. Well, social services are funded by taxpayers, so what you're asking isn't really fair to them. If your relatives can afford to help you, they're the ones who should do so. There might also be charities or people from your church who'd be willing to help you with expenses.

  4. You need to be getting prenatal care leading up to your birth.

    There should be some sort of help available, if not from the government (laws vary state to state) then from private organizations.

    A county health center or planned parenthood may be able to help you or give you info.
