I'm a woman hockey player and i would like to know what's a great way to get in shape for the new season?

  1. Running is always a good way to get in shape, it works out your calves and your chest/abs. Also situps mainly work on your lower abs and crunches work on your up abs while running works on both at the same time. I wouldnt suggest curls especially since your a girl and prob wont like 'working out' so i suggest running with an ipod band around your arm and listening to music.


  2. Do sit ups, and every ten run to your stick, stick handle l**k crazy for thirty seconds, then run back and do another ten. Make you stick far away enough that running to get there is physical exertion.

  4. running. conditioning is really important. also try to get some agility training in because having quick feet on the ice is a great skill to have. Other than endurance, for your abs go with the standard sit up, use a medicine ball for resistance. Also skating helps your abs because you use your core muscles.  For a good ab workout my coach loves bicycle crunches. lay on your back lift your legs up and have your hands behind your head, lift up your neck/ upper torso or whatever you wanna call it. bring one knee in and make the opposite elbow touch it, while doing this straighten your other leg, then repeat but opposite side.  my explanation probably want the best so im sure Google could explain it to you better.  good luck with your training!

  5. well swimming is the best exercise you can get, i wouldn't worry as much about your abs as as your cardio, and swimming is a big boost for that. better cardio = more ice time = easier to get noticed. then after that id work the abs haha.  

  6. Run and do weight training. Do situps with a medicine ball for your abs.
