I have bunch of clothes, ornaments, unuse bath products, and other little things in good condition.

I'm thinking about going to Goodwill or the Salvation Army? Which is better?

  1. Both charities do good works, & would appreciate your donations, which they w/sell.  However, if you have new toiletries, consider giving them to your local women's shelter.  The women & their children who are victims of domestic violence often arrive @ the shelters w/out so much as a toothbrush.

To see the sorts of things I donate to them, go to <www.ShoeBoxProject.org>.

  2. I've never been into a Salvation Army, but the Goodwill stores that I have been into charge ridiculous prices and should be ashamed of themselves. They prices things as if they were brand new.  I've seen similar brand new items cheaper at local stores than what Goodwill is charging for things that were donated to them.

That's just my thought. I won't go near a Goodwill, personally.

  3. You can always call your community church and they can help out

  4. Check with your local United Way agency to see if perhaps they can suggest another nonprofit that may be interested in your items.  Churches are a good idea too, especially if they have an annual rummage sale.

In terms of Goodwill and the Salvation Army, it is really a decision of do you want to donate to a faithbased organization (SA) or secular (GW).
