  1. well, the ones i saw were pretty expensive,

    i used an old blanket, and i never knew or anything if you needed one, it just calmed my bird down,

    heres some websites..

    yeah, i'm not that big of a help. but hey :]

  2. Cage covers are good for night time just so the birds don't get a chill. You probably already have one around your house somewhere. For my bird we use a lightweight sheet and it works great. Just make sure you keep it clean and dont leave it on the whole day.

    Also, someitmes its better not to use them in the hotter months.

    Best of luck!=)

  3. cage covers are a good idea,  i just use a dark colored sheet cut to fit ovr the cage

  4. its not worth is parakeets just sit in the cage and daily session of loud chirping.

  5. Just use a sheet or something like that.

  6. I don't think you need a cage. Their poops aren't THAT big.

  7. I use, and recommend regular bedsheets.

    Avoid blankets, other open weave fabric, and anything with frayed or loose threads.  If a bird can put it's toe nails through the material - it's not safe.  They can easily get entangled in the fabric, which can cause serious injuries.

    Birds do not necessarily need to be covered at night, but they do need to get at least 10 hours of uninterupted sleep.  The room where they sleep should be quiet and dark, and free of drafts.

    If you want a cage cover, and don't have extra bedsheets, try Walmart, or a similar retailer.   You should be able to find low cost, twin-sized flat sheets for about $3.

    Best of luck to you with your new bird!

  8. u dont need one unless you have a very drafty house and it would get cold at night

  9. If the cage is in an area of the house that has a lot of traffic in it or the television and you are a late night person then the bird really needs to be covered so it gets its rest.  Also certain times of the year they need more darkness than light so as to tame down mating behaviors.  I have a baby blanket that I use to cover the parrotlets cage with and made a cover myself for the Jenday.  I took an old bed sheet and sewed 4 magnets into the top of the sheet (got the magnets at Walmart for $1.00 I think).  The cover doesn't touch the cage bars as it has a seed guard that holds the cover out.  You can also find cage covers on eBay but I found it was easier to make it myself as my cage has a playstand on the top.

  10. you need like a blanket or some sheet you dont use anymore to cover them at night you dont have to buy 1.

  11. If the bird is use to being covered at night I would get one.  You can use an old clean blanket.  Darker in color, not white
